Independent AC & heat pump guidance for Latvia
Can you install an AC in your building — and what should it cost?
Klimata Lab is an independent reference for air conditioning and heat pumps in Latvia: sizing, rules, permits and fair prices. We are not an installer and not a shop.
01
Right sizing
What capacity you actually need, when a regular AC is enough — and when it doubles as very cheap winter heating.
02
Right installation
What must be in the quote, which questions to ask, and which invisible shortcuts cost you a compressor in year three.
03
Right approvals
Facades, balconies, building managers, neighbours and the historic centre — what Riga actually requires, with official sources.
04
Right price
Real published price ranges for Riga, checked against installer price lists — so a quote can be judged, not guessed.

Start from your building
The building decides the difficulty, the mounting and even the unit size. Pick yours:
- AC in a 119-series building (Pļavnieki, Zolitūde, Ziepniekkalns)
- AC in a 602-series building (Purvciems, Imanta, Mežciems)
- AC in a hrushchevka (316/318 series): wiring first, then the wall
- AC in a new-build apartment: the developer's rules decide
- AC in a renovated (insulated) series building: drill once, drill right
